My daddy is a soldier
Who we are
We are a charity for British Army children who face unique challenges especially when a parent deploys to an operational theatre of war for sometimes up to seven months at a time or even a shorter exercise or course away from the family home, times when also communications are limited and sporadic.
The charity was born following a very successful fundraising event 'My daddy is a soldier trek 2011' which was arranged by the founders of My Daddy is a Soldier Adventures; Louise Fetigan and Linda Trickett. This event enabled three Army children to focus on a fun activity trekking up Snowdon and the children managed to gain a sense of community and belonging from the experience, distracting them in a positive way from the fact their fathers were in Afghanistan.
Louise Fetigan
Louise herself served in the British Army and saw active service in Kosovo. Her husband is a serving soldier who has undertaken six operational tours of duty since their daughter was born in 2003. Louise is passionate about helping The Little Troopers at Home through the anxiety of tours and also the stress of a long course or exercise having experienced first hand the impact it can have.Read more of Louise's story
